Cancellation Brixen Dolomiten Marathon

The Organising Committee cancels the Brixen Dolomiten Marathon with a heavy heart with the following statement from the President, Christian Jocher:

To all running enthusiastic athletes,
the Brixen Dolomiten Marathon 2022 – with all its runs – was once again a complete success. Whether it was the marathon itself, the Dolomites Ultra Trail, the Dolomites Ladinia Trail or the Villnöss Dolomites Run, personal best times were achieved in brilliant weather, great impressions were gained and the panorama of the Dolomites could be enjoyed in all its colourfulness and uniqueness. Equally unique was the opening of the biggest South Tyrolean running weekend on Friday evening: the Women’s Run Brixen.

For 12 years now, we have been striving to improve and expand our event – all on a voluntary basis, mind you. We are a small group of passionate runners who have put together a really great event in their spare time. And perhaps that is also the secret of the Brixen Dolomiten Marathon – it is an event by runners for runners!

The financial and above all bureaucratic challenge has become more and more extensive in recent years. Our small OC team is no longer able to cope with this enormous extra effort in our spare time. A professional operational platform is now needed to meet the wishes of the participants, sponsors and helpers.

There have been several discussions with the Tourism Association of Brixen and the Municipality of Brixen. Our demands and suggestions were set out in a 3 and 5-year plan. Unfortunately, no acceptable solution could be found for us and above all for the participants, sponsors and helpers.

For this reason we have decided with a heavy heart that the Brixen Dolomiten Marathon 2023 will not take place.

The Women’s Run Brixen, however, which is part of this project, will take place in 2023.
