Brixen, 11th November 2020 – After a year of forced break, the Brixen Dolomiten Marathon returns on Saturday, 3 July 2021. Running enthusiasts will not only have the classic distance of 42.2 kilometers with 2450 meters of altitude difference to choose from at the renowned mountain running event in the South Tyrolean cathedral city: LadiniaTrail (29 km/1852 m altitude difference) and Dolomites Ultra Trail (84 km/4728 hm) round off the harmonious offer. Registration has recently been opened.
After a year of stagnation in large parts of the trail running scene, the community is burning for a comeback in 2021, and the organizers of the Brixen Dolomiten Marathon are no different, as they are relying on proven methods for the eleventh edition of the South Tyrolean mountain running classic. The heart of the event remains the marathon distance with almost 2500 meters of altitude difference, which the fastest participants cover in about three and a half hours. The Brixen Dolomiten Marathon can also be run in teams of two or four. For this very reason, it delights many families or groups of friends who want to tackle the 42.2 kilometers together and spend months preparing intensively for this challenge.
The LadiniaTrail is a little shorter, with its 29 kilometers and 1852 meters of altitude difference. It was first included in the offer in 2019. It is particularly suitable for those runners who want to approach longer distances. “The LadiniaTrail leads along forest and hiking paths as well as alpine climbs through unique mountain landscapes of extraordinary beauty. Technically, this run is not difficult at all and can certainly be mastered by beginners”, says the organizers.
Dolomites Ultra Trail only for teams of two
For those who like it really crunchy, on the other hand, the Dolomites Ultra Trail is just right. On the one hand because of the length of 84 kilometers and the almost 4800 meters of altitude to be covered. But also the starting time at one minute past midnight and the associated running in the deepest night is a real challenge for the athletes. This is also one of the reasons why the Dolomites Ultra Trail has to be completed in teams of two.
On 11th November at 11.11 a.m. the organizers of the ASV Brixen Dolomites Marathon opened the registration for the various running distances. “Every day we receive bad news at the moment because of the Corona pandemic. By opening the entries we wanted to make a positive headline for once. We are confident that the situation will relax until next summer and that the Brixen Dolomiten Marathon can take place as planned”, explains OC President Christian Jocher.
Registrations are accepted on the official website www.brixenmarathon.com. The entry fee for the Brixen Dolomites Marathon until the end of the year is 69 euros, or 90 euros for two-man and 140 euros for four-man relay teams. For the LadiniaTrail the entry fee is 45 euros, while for the Dolomites Ultra Trail the fee is 180 euros per team of two. “At Christmas there will be another big surprise”, adds Jocher. Incidentally, the registrations from 2020 will be automatically carried over to 2021. “For athletes who cannot start in 2021, we will propose a start number exchange, where they can offer them to other interested athletes. Unfortunately, we as organizers cannot refund the registration fee,” the organizing committee concluded.
