Brixen, December 9, 2019 – At the 10th Brixen Dolomites Marathon in July, more than 1000 participants from 34 different nations set a new and outstanding record. The enthusiasm for the popular mountain running event in the cathedral city, however, does not stop with regard to the eleventh edition. Seven months before the starting signal on Saturday, July 4, 2020, the 100 mark has already far exceeded in terms of registrations.
140 Athletes from already 14 different countries have so far written to each other for the Brixen Dolomites Marathon. Among them for the first time are athletes from Russia, Hong Kong and South Africa. “After the anniversary edition, we assumed that the number of participants could perhaps decline a little. However, the opposite is the case, because we are at exactly the same level as last year. What makes us particularly happy is of course the fact that we attract mountain runners from countries from which no participants have yet come to Brixen. This internationalization is essential for Brixen as a tourist destination,” says OK boss Christian Jocher.
The first top runner also confirmed his participation in the Brixen Dolomites Marathon on Saturday, 4 July 2020. It is Marcel Krieghoff from Germany, who won this year the famous 20km Rennsteig race. Last year Krieghoff competed in the World Mountain Running Championships and in the previous year, he took 20th place in the European Mountain Running Championships.
