At the Brixen Dolomiten Marathon, the organisers stick to the tried and tested

Brixen, 11 November 2021 – All mountain running enthusiasts should mark 2 July 2022 in red in their calendars. On that day, the 12th edition of the Brixen Dolomiten Marathon will take place. As last year, the organisers led by Christian Jocher will offer four different courses with varying degrees of difficulty, thus appealing to a very broad audience. Registrations for the major international event in the cathedral city are already open.

Those who know the scene know it: on the first weekend in July, Brixen becomes the mountain running capital. Enthusiastic athletes then travel in droves to the former bishop’s residence to climb the Plose from the cathedral square or to enjoy the fantastic mountain world of the Dolomites on one of the three other courses.

The core of the renowned event is and remains the Brixen Dolomiten Marathon (42.195 kilometres/2450 metres of altitude) – the origin of the mountain running spectacle in the capital of Eisackvalley, which was held for the first time in 2010 and ended with the victories of Hermann Achmüller and Irene Senfter. Last year, however, local hero Helmuth Mair and Julia Kessler from Merano prevailed.

Something for everyone

With the Dolomites Ultra Trail (84 km/4728 hm), which is run exclusively in teams of two, the LadiniaTrail (29 km/1852 hm) and the Villnöss Dolomites Run (22 km/385 hm), the offer has been successively expanded in recent years in order to also be attractive for those mountain athletes who prefer to run a longer distance or who would like to try out trail running or the marathon over a shorter distance.

“There really is something for everyone at our event. What all four routes have in common is the fabulous view that participants have of the surrounding mountains. Preparations for the Brixen Dolomiten Marathon are now slowly getting underway. But we all have the time until 2 July 2022, so that in around eight months everything will run smoothly again as usual,” says Christian Jocher, “inventor” and OC head of the Brixen Dolomiten Marathon.

Registrations are already possible and cheaper until the end of the year

Since Thursday, 11 November, registrations for the Brixen Dolomiten Marathon has been open on the official website of the mountain running event. Until the end of the year(exactly until 31 December 2021), registration for the original course costs 69 euros for all individual participants, while registration for two-person relay teams costs 90 euros, or 140 euros for four-person relay teams. The entry fee for the Villnöss Dolomites Run is 45 euros, for the LadiniaTrail 49 euros and for the Dolomites Ultra Trail 180 euros per team of two. The prices will be raised after the turn of the year.

“All participants can also purchase a high-quality finisher shirt for a small surcharge when registering. We are confident that on 2 July 2022 we will once again be able to welcome numerous athletes from all over the world to Brixen and celebrate a festival under the banner of mountain running,” Christian Jocher concludes.
