Regulation and Rules
In these regulations and rules the masculine form is used to designate male and female genders.
Start at the Cathedral Square in Brixen-South Tyrol (560 m). Flat running in part from Brixen to Milland (asphalt road), incline over Mellaun to St. Andrä/valley station of cable car (hiking and forest trail) – 1st changing station (1.060 m). Further on towards Afers – 2nd changing station (1.500 m), partly on hiking and forest trails and asphalt road near Schatzer Hut (1.990 m) and to Rossalm Hut (2.200 m) over to Kreuztal/summit station of cable car (2.050 m) – 3rd changing station. Hiking trail to Ochsenalm (2.080 m) and final ramp to the plateau at the Plose (2.450 m).
Marathon: W/M 18, 20, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60, 65, 70-79. According to Italian rights older athletes cannot start. The first three of each category will be awarded. If until 24th June there are not 5 participants for a category, the categories will be put together. Juniors go into the next higher category, all others go in the younger category.
Relay 4×4: women – men – mixed (the first three of each category will be awarded)
Relay 2×2: women – men – mixed (the first three of each category will be awarded)
Participants must be at least 18 year old on 1st July 2017. Only well-trained runners can handle this alpine challenge. By signing the registration form the runner accepts the rules of this marathon as well as the regulations of the IAAF. The runner certificates the possession of a valid medical certificate. For all regulations not mentioned in this invitation the international regulations of CONI and ICMR are applied.
The official route cannot be left, the runner has to accept the orders of the track marshals.
- Member of an Athletic Federation recognized by the IAAF (membership card)
- Athletes, who are not member of an Athletic Federation, must present a Certificate of Health, valid on 1st July 2017 (download certificate of health)
The Brixen Dolomites Marathon is an alpine challenge and is only suitable for highly-trained runners. We appeal to the own responsibility and the common sense of every participant. Every runner takes part of his own risk and responsibility. Doctors and duty along the route and the final runner (“sweeper bus”) are authorized to retire a runner from the race on medical grounds. If a competitor continues the race against a medical directive or run behind the official last control vehicle (“sweeper bus”), he does so at his own responsibility and without any entitlement to the marathon services.
The registration takes place online on www.brixenmarathon.com, it is completed with the payment of the starting fee. Alternatively there is the possibility to register in written via registration form, sent via fax or e-mail. Only forms that are completely filled in and signed by the participant will be accepted. With the registration every athlete approves the disclosure of his own sensitive data following the privacy rules. Moreover the organizer can use pictures of the participants for promotion in national and international media.

Payment with online registration
The event organizer suggests using online registration with its various payment facilities. The payment can be via credit cards, LSV or bank transfer.
Payment with registration by fax or mail

A copy of the payment must be sent with the registration form to the organizers.
The registration is only valid after the payment of the starting fee.
The transfer of an acquired starting place must be notified to the secretary until 24.06.2017. An administration charge of € 20,00 each will be levied. Changes of any kind are only possible until 24.06.2017. People who have not issued an insurance can send a medical certificate with the diagnosis to the organizer within 25.06.2016. The registration fee will not be refunded in this case but kept for the following year.
Saturday, 1st July 2017 Cathedral Square Brixen: 7.30 a.m. for the marathon, 8 a.m. for the relays.
Relay: 4×4 (ca. 11 km/ca. 8 km/ ca. 14,5 km/ca. 8,5 km), 2×2 (ca. 19 km/ca. 23 km).
Altitude difference: ca. 2.450 m – Distance: 42,195 km – time limit: 8 hours – finish end: 3.30 p.m.
The Organization Committee has the right to ask the athletes to wear Trail-shoes according to the weather conditions. In case the athlete doesn’t wear Trail-shoes at the start he will be disqualified from the Race Office – the registration fee won’t be paid back.

The lending fee for the time measuring chip (Transponder) is included in the registration fee. Chips that are not handed back will be charged to the participant € 20,00.

Cathedral Square in Brixen:
Friday, 30th June 2017 from 1 to 7 p.m.
Saturday, 1st July 2017 from 6 to 7 a.m.
Friday, 30th June 2017 at the Cathedral Square from 1 p.m.
Luggage transport to finish area should be handed over at starting area on 1st July 2017 from 6.30 to 7.30 a.m.

Insurance and liability
The event organizer cannot be held responsible for any loss, injury or damage to people or items. There is no liability for lost items. The event organizer refuses any liability for possible damage or accidents before, during and after the race. Place of jurisdiction is Brixen.
With the registration every athlete declares:
Insurance is the sole responsibility of the participant. Every athlete must be insured against accident. I recognize the organizers exclusion of liability for any damages. I declare to be well-prepared for this marathon, that I am healthy and that the personal details (name, age etc.) are correct. I know that it is forbidden to pass my personal number to another person without complying with the official transfer procedure. With the registration I agree the regulations and rules of the 8th Brixen Dolomites Marathon as well as any further modifications published on this homepage.
- Way back on foot to the summit station Kreuztal (25 minutes) with a beautiful foto-point. Alternatively there is a bus shuttle on payment. From Kreuztal by cable car to St. Andrä (ticket is the starting number) and from St. Andrä by bus (free at certain times) to the city of Brixen (bus station) .
- In case of bad weather or dangerous conditions the event organizer has the right to change to an alternative, also homologated track. The race takes place in all weathers.
- The use of walking poles or other technical aid is not allowed. From Kreuztal (km 33,7) only the drought categories W/M 60 and older are allowed to use nordic walking poles.
How to get there
by car – Brenner motorway: from north exit Vahrn/Varna, from south exit Klausen/Chiusa
by train – Brenner railway: station Brixen /Bressanone
by plane – the closest airports are: Bolzano/Bozen (45 km), Innsbruck (85 km) and Verona Villafranca (190 km).
