The two South Tyrolean top runners have already registered for the unique panoramic run that starts from the episcopal city. Hannes Rungger, who was the finishing member of the winning relay team last year, will compete in the single category on June 28th. Edeltraud Thaler wants to repeat her last year’s victory in the women’s category, too.
2.340 meters difference in altitude and a distance of 42,195 kilometres are a big challenge, even for top athletes. The Brixen Dolomites Marathon starts next Saturday in Brixen and leads its participants through an unrivalled, panoramic landscape up to the finish on the Plose.
For the 5th anniversary of the only homologated mountain marathon of Italy Eva Ellemunter and her OK-Team have come up with a lot of great ideas. For example, the race can be run in relays in teams of four. This option is especially attractive for company teams who participate according to the motto “teamwork: together towards a common goal”. Another novelty is the ‘Schatzer Hütte Prize’: the first relay team from each category that passes the Schatzer Hütte gets a cash prize sponsored by the Schatzer Hütte.
The Brixen Dolomites Marathon is not only unique for the competing athletes but also for the spectators, who can experience the thrilling action and outstanding performances of the top athletes first hand. In a little more than three hours do the best runners cover the distance of the marathon with its more than 2000 metres difference in altitude.
