Brixen Dolomites Marathon: K33 – an extraordinary opportunity
The 6th Brixen Dolomites Marathon takes place on June 27th, 2015. 42.195 kilometres and 2.340 metres in altitude are a true challenge, which is nevertheless taken up by many athletes from numerous nations each year. The marathon starts at the cathedral square in the city of Brixen and leads its participants through a unique landscape with astounding panoramic views high up to the finish line on the Plose.
What is the K33?
For the first time, runners get the opportunity to participate in the K33. This run is 33.7 kilometres long. It also starts at the cathedral square in Brixen but the finish is in Kreuztal, so there are 1940 metres in altitude that have to be conquered. This is an extraordinary opportunity for all the athletes who want try out a shorter distance run before doing a full mountain marathon, but nevertheless want to enjoy the magnificent panoramic landscape. Eva Ellenmunter, head of the OK-team, happily says about her ‘youngest child’: “By introducing the K33, we enable even more athletes to participate in this unique mountain run.”
Emotional moments at the race weekend in Brixen
This year, again, great emotional moments are guaranteed at the race weekend in Brixen. About 400 visibly motivated volunteers, the unique route from the episcopal city up to the Plose and, last but not least, the many participating athletes who give their best all together make for an unforgettable event.
In addition to the classical distance of 42,195 km, 2015 there will be also the K33: start from the central square in Brixen, finish in Kreuztal after 33 km.
